Terms of Service

These terms cover Open in Google Docs, a free, open-source macOS tool made by Oleksandr Shpirko, and this website. By installing or using the tool, you agree to them.

License

The source code is published under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify and share it under that license. Where these terms and the license differ, the license applies to the code.

No account, no service

There is no account, subscription or server. The tool runs on your Mac and sends your files directly to your own Google Drive. It’s free, with nothing to buy.

Your Google account

You use the tool with your own Google account and your own Google Cloud OAuth client. You’re responsible for following the Google Terms of Service and the Google APIs Terms of Service, and for the limits of your account, such as Drive storage.

Your files

Only upload files you have the right to upload. Google does the conversion, and the result may differ from the original: formatting can change, and CSV files are read with US conventions for numbers and dates. The tool never changes or deletes the files on your Mac.

No warranty

The tool is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind, as stated in the MIT License. I don’t promise that it will work with every file, every macOS version or every future change to Google’s services.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, I’m not liable for any damage or loss that comes from using the tool or this website, including lost data, failed or inaccurate conversions and problems with your Google account.

Google, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Drive are trademarks of Google LLC. Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel are trademarks of Microsoft Corporation. macOS and Finder are trademarks of Apple Inc. This project is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google, Microsoft or Apple.

Changes

I may update these terms. The new version will appear on this page with a new date at the top.
